Best Of 3 Maps

For XLeague or PlusLeague matches, all teams must check in to their respective Discord channel a minimum of 30 minutes prior to their match start time (ie #xleague_checkin or #plusleague_checkin). For tournament matches, all teams must check in to our Discord a minimum of one hour before start time.

Maps will be chosen using OWDRAFT. Team Captains need to privately message each other on our Discord to organize the map pool. For broadcasted games, teams must screenshot their OWDRAFT results to their respective tier channels in our Discord (ie #plusleague_royal, xleague_elite etc) with your team names included in the post.

For all matches, whether for a league or tournament, all Team Captains are responsible for contacting their opposing Team Captain to set up their game. Important: All Team Captains must save our pre-game settings in to their custom game presets. The first team on the bracket is responsible for setting up the custom game and inviting the opposing Team Captain.

Team Captains are required to report their final game score in their respective results channel on Discord as soon as the match is complete. If match results are not reported, both teams may receive a loss. The Overguard highly encourages each team to take an in-game screenshot of the final score and match results to help with any potential disputes.

No Show Policy

Every team will be given the opportunity to show up to their match, we require that you be online at least 30 minutes prior to your match in order to check-in. If a team is not checked-in and online by the scheduled game time, 15 minutes will be allowed for the team to respond and join the game. If all team members are not in the lobby after the 15 minutes grace period, they will receive a forfeit.

When concerning "who hosts a match?", we are applying a concept similar to "home" and "away" venues in traditional sport. The host of a League or Tournament match is the left-most team on our website schedule - unless both teams have mutually agreed otherwise. We have done this to provide even hosting between teams of different regions.

Disconnections & Pausing Policy

During a League or Tournament match, if a player is disconnected, the Hosting Team or Moderator must immediately pause the match.  Each team is permitted one pause for a total of three (3) minutes throughout their Best of 3 series. Once the pause has reached 3 minutes, the team must continue that round/map without the player. If a second disconnection occurs for a team, they will have to continue the round without that player until they rejoin. The disconnected player can return anytime but replacement/substitute players are not allowed until that round has ended. The host must pause the match when notified of a disconnect, otherwise a forfeit or rematch may be enforced.

Each team is responsible for their own hardware and internet connection. If your disk ejects, your controller dies, or your internet or power drops out, the match will go on and we will NOT be able to reschedule. We'd hate for this to happen, so be as prepared as you can be to avoid these issues.

Substituting Players

Per roster, each team can have a maximum of nine (9) players. Teams can swap or substitute players in between maps. We allow teams to have nine players for this reason. However, the player entering the game MUST be on the team roster. This is mandatory and not negotiable. If a team swaps in a player (or a smurf account) in to a league game, and that player/account is not on their roster, please take video evidence and/or a screenshot and report it to your League Commissioner. Teams who violate this rule and swap in a player or smurf account outside of their current team roster will forfeit that game. This forfeit will count against their maximum of three forfeits of the season.

If a team communicates that they want to substitute/swap players in between maps, it is the host's responsibility to pause for a maximum of five minutes during this time. If the new player does not enter the game within five minutes, the game will continue without that player.

To protect both teams from their opponent having an unfair advantage, spectators will not be allowed during matches, whether they are coaches or substitute players. If the match is streamed, your coach or substitute team members are welcome to watch the stream. If your match will take place off stream, you are more than welcome to stream it, and your coach or substitute players can watch your stream.

Roster Changes

Each team must have a minimum of six (6) players, and a maximum of nine (9). Each team is permitted a maximum of three (3) roster changes per season. Roster changes will be updated weekly every Monday and Thursday, and the roster changes will not take effect until then. Roster changes must be requested a minimum of 48 hours prior to your game. You may replace as many players as you like with each roster change. When replacing a team member or adding an additional member, the incoming member must be below the team average SR in your group or tier, or below the SR of the member being replaced, whichever is higher. Players cannot be registered to more than one team at a time during a season.

Documentation of Rule Violations

Please report rule violations to your League Admin or League Commisioner. In order for disciplinary action to take place, the report must be documented with either screenshots or video evidence.

We provide a default schedule for your weekly games. If one team wants to reschedule to a different time, they can request a more suitable game time from the enemy team captain. This new game time must be within 7 days after the original scheduled game time. If the opposing team doesn't want to reschedule or doesn't agree on a time, you will have to play the scheduled time or forfeit. Any rescheduling must be requested with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice. If a new time is agreed upon, you must inform your League Admin or League Commissioner. If you are rescheduling a streamed game, you can utilise our caster program to organize for your new game to be streamed. If both teams can't play the scheduled time and can't agree on a time to reschedule that weekend, both teams will receive a forfeit.

Note: If a team asks you to reschedule, you must provide a valid reason as to why you cannot reschedule, if that is your answer. You cannot refuse to reschedule just to receive the automatic win. You must provide at least two reasonable, alternative time slots to the requesting team. A reasonable time slot is 5PM - 9PM (PST) any day of of the week. If you are experiencing difficulties rescheduling, please contact your League Admin or League Commissioner with a documented conversation.

If we have evidence of manipulations of in-game software, that team will be banned permanently from any future Overguard events. If a team is caught abusing glitches or bugs to gain an advantage, they will be suspended for the season. The use of keyboard and mouse is also not allowed and with enough evidence will result in a season ban for the player and point reduction for the team. If you or your team witness any actions or behavior from the opposing team that violate the standards as written in this policy, please document what happened, take video footage and/or screenshots, and provide them to your league lead along with a description of what occurred.

Every team, and every player, is expected to be respectful in game and out. Any toxic behavior against any player, including but not limited to flaming, teabagging, voice line spamming, disrespectful messages or anything intentionally discriminatory, can result in an instant suspension. If you witness any such unprofessional behavior, please document the behavior with video footage or screenshots and provide them to your league lead along with a description of what occurred.

Any person involved with, or participating within The Overguard in any way is expected to use common sense when interacting with other members of the community. Treat other members with the professionalism, respect, and courtesy you expect to receive. The Overguard reserves the right to edit or change these rules at any time. Members are expected to review and adhere to these rules at all times.

Behavior or actions including, but not limited to, rule-bending, exploitation, lying, bad behaviour, aggression, bullying, harassment, disrespect, insubordination, and prejudice will not be tolerated. Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken when such behavior is properly documented and reported.

You are welcome to stream your match if it is not being streamed on TheOverguard’s official Twitch channels.

If a team forfeits three times in the one season, the team may be kicked from the league for the remaining season.
